What to wear to an acting audition/interview?

I have an audition and meeting at a modeling and acting agency Thursday. It is John Casablanca’s if that helps. I’m not sure how to dress. I know I need to be myself, but I didn’t know how “dressy” I needed to be.

Would jeans, a nice shirt and heels be okay? Or should I go a little more or less casual?

Thanks for your input!

    Yep that’d be fine.

Skinny jeans and a nice shirt, but tuck you shirt in you pants and leave it hanging out a bit and then wear a belt with a simple but nice buckle. Not flashy but simple and classic.

Heals would be the nice finishing touch.

First of all, John Casablanca’s is a scam. Any “agency” that charges you money is a scam. J.C. doesn’t even find you work. They just teach you how to walk and talk and look like a model and charge you an arm and a leg for a portfolio.

What you should do is act in as many small films and plays as possible to build up your resume, get some decently priced headshots taken, and send your headshot and resume and a cover letter out to SAG affiliated agencies.

An agent that charges you money is a scam. They should want to find you work, and when they do they earn a small, normally 10%, commission on whatever you earn.

On auditions you should avoid patterns. A nice one-colored button-up blouse and jeans with flats are good. Always wear what you wore to the first audition to your second, so they remember you.

Also, if you know what character you will be auditioning for, like say a rebellious teen, do not go dressed in costume, but you may add a piece of funky jewelry or something that is reminiscent of what the character would wear.

    Hope this helps!
